What size kw electric shower should I buy?
Electric showers come in three main sizes 8.5kw, 9.5k and 10.5kw if you are planning to buy an electric shower as a replacement for an electric shower that has been previously installed then it is an excellent idea to have an electrician check the size of the cable that feeds the original shower. If the cable is a 6mm cable then the only size shower you can buy is an 8.5kw. You cannot fit 9.5kw or 10.5kw electric showers on a 6mm cable as it can over load the cable and can be potentially dangerous. If you have a 10mm cable installed then you can fit any size of electric shower safely. If you are buying an electric shower for a new installation then the size in kW will not matter as the electrician who you employ will fit the correct size cable for the shower.
